King Byfer’s Confession
After lord Zamanni cursed Vaigus and his cohorts, he casted them to istchkadel to suffer eternal punishment while Lady Levi was greeted to the earth, to live with humans on his authority. The heavens were at peace but lord Zamanni was disconsolate by her daughter’s absence. He missed her a lot; her songs, her praises, her dance, and how she often dotes on him like a child, making him feel the supremacy of his power and invincibility. While everyone retired to their respective post, Lord Zamanni watched the earth and her daughter in it, from his throne with sobriety.
When Lady Levi alighted on the earth, she fell in the forest of Guskar and was naked. The glory that covered her was withdrawn from her and she could discern it, through the knowledge of sentiments her father had infused in her, to survive on the earth. The forest is said to be inhabited by ghouls and crones of the unsaved souls of men who were rejected from the heavens and found no rest. The underworld was under lock and key until the time Vaigus and his fallen angels were cast into the underworld to suffer their eternal punishment. She quickly sorted ways to hide her nakedness although it was dark. She was astonished by the utter silence of the forest. Her father had created all things and had put somebody or something to lead them. While she was working in the woods, she had a voice. A voice that sounded very monstrous. For the first time, she felt afraid of her father’s creatures and was drifting back. Her heart was unwilling to reckon with the imperfection of humanity anymore. While she was trembling, the voice kept proliferating and drawing nearer until she could no longer handle it so, took to her heels. She felt the presence of these creatures after her but, she did not see anyone or thing as the entire forest was thick and layered with large and convolving trees along with lethal grasses. The air was foggy and that further reduced her visibility. While on to her heels bound and determined, the creatures kept running after her nonstop. When she finally saw them, they had surrounded her. They were very rickety shape-shifting decaying cacodemons with nothing to delight of them. Lady Levi was afraid and she kept turning to every angle of escape but she found nothing, for they had already surrounded her in their number. They kept bawling and hooting for a while then, started mumbling and campaigning for her blood. They kept advancing, to a point they almost nabbed her when an unknown sword from the shadows pierced the ghoul leader’s back. He shrieked gruesomely while the rest of the ghouls and crones were ready to attack but couldn’t see where the sword came from. Arrows were douched in the air. It kept taken out these dull creatures in their number. They kept dropping one by one before her eyes while she sat there consumed by fear and fret. A ghulah ran to rip her apart when an equestrian knocked her down with the shoes of his horse. The horse neighed in anger and with its tarsus lifted above the ground; the equestrian was clung to its back and with his one-handed sword skill kept separating their heads from shoulder alone. When he saw that the red moon was in the sky and the creatures were multiplying in number he somersaulted twice in the air poised by his krav-maga defense vogue chopped off the head of ten ghouls in a line to create an escape route and while fleeing, stretched out his hand for her to catch and without shilly-shallying caught his hand and he threw her over back on his horse and they escaped the creatures to the woods of love. The equestrian was none other than king Byfer. He named the woods; “the woods of love” because that was where he found the angel that saved his life and gave him a reason to believe in love. He never forgot her or the place. Anytime he misses her, he goes to the woods of love to feed his wild imagination of her on his arms making love to him again and gain. He innumerably wished that the day never ended or had at least repeated itself for once. He was a bachelor and had refused to get married, and since he met with Lady Levi in her angelic form, it had further strengthened his conviction of not looking at any other woman except her.
While she came down from the horse she was too ashamed to lift her face to King Byfer for she was naked and recognized him. When he discovered that she was naked, he offered her, his robe to cover herself but, even at that she still refused to lift her face, for him to see. She immediately cleaved the robe into two unequal halves. She wore one of the halves and converted the other to a veil. That was to prevent anyone from seeing her face until she finds a place to settle for life. “Hey! Miss, can you explain to me why you tore my robe, what you were doing in the forest and why you were naked?" King Byfer asked inquisitively. “Which of your questions should I answer first,” she asked him politely. “Anyone of your choice girl!” he replied unevenly. ‘Stop calling me a girl, you have no inkling idea of how old I am or where I come from,’ she spoke in a differentially outspoken manner, “She is giving me an attitude, now. Who do you think you are? Are you some miss world, the creator’s daughter, or some magical princess waiting for his prince charming-- even if you were, not in the woods, those ghouls and crones today would have made you their meal? Thanks to almighty me that I came at the nick of time otherwise you would have been pushing your daisies." He spoke in a very hubristic manner. "I am grateful to you and I owe my life for that. It true that you are good and skilled in battle but," she ended the statement halfway. “But what? Complete the statement, mhmm! Go one," he asked curiously with his eyes widely open gazing at Lady Levi's face which was covered and wondering who she was behind the veil and why her voice was so angelic and sweet unlikely of all the women he knows and has met. He was wondering what her face would look like. He was amazed at himself why he was feeling comfortable talking to her as if he knew her from somewhere, when he knows next to nothing about her and even argues with her in the very woods he kept sacred as a memorial of his love life with an angel. While he was lost in his thoughts and trying so hard to comprehend things, she interrupted him with “buts! But! But! But!” she spoke naively in a bid to tease him and to avoid his question of revealing her identity to him. “But! But! But! But! But!... But what?” he replied jeering for sometime then felt belligerent to a point of grasping her hand. He quickly withdrew it when he came to his senses and apologized to her for losing his temper. A woman surely knows how to make a man lose his cool. “But! Em” she spoke again. “It ok please have a seat and allow the ‘buts’ out of it. Thanks,” he spoke a benign manner to her. Her plan worked out. Somehow, she was able to divert his attention at least for the moment. ‘Are you hungry?’ king Byfer asked lovingly contrary to his initial behavior.” Nope, am fine” she replied politely to him. “Okay! If you say so. Am very hungry I have to eat something. The journey is far and I hope you are not following me?” he asked artfully while mumbling and preparing his meal of toast bread and some roasted eel. She did not reply him, rather fell asleep but was sure to hide her face well. “Hmm! What a woman!” he murmured while she was asleep.
After eating his meal, he started making a place to sleep too. In the process, found out that, Lady Levi's feet were uncovered and she was shivering out of the cold. He brought out his blanket and covered her with it. However, he touched her feet and felt very strange. His heart leaped when he touched her. He felt like someone he knows, so tried to see if he could see her face. He was trying so hard but could not. She had tied her face to ensure he does not see through. When he was tired of peeping, he quickly went to sleep. Just as he lay down and closed his eyes to sleep, Lady Levi opened hers. She was never asleep and was well aware of everything he was doing. She was very happy and delighted. Her love for him had developed stature. She was caressing the blanket with her left hand rubbing it all over her with her nose flipping through it, to perceivably relate his cologne in a romantic way. It never takes anything for a woman to fall in love with a man but it takes time for a man to even realize it and make effort to achieve it. While she was lost in her fantasy of love and romance with king Byfer who was fast asleep and even snoring. She wished that the morning never passed over her, and rather than chasing pavements, she dared to reveal herself to him. He was a very handsome, tall, and erotic man. His heroic display of martial skills in the forest to save her life earlier was awesome and what every woman wants from a man. To be protected, loved, respected, and trusted. Moreover, within a glimpse of the conversation they had, she had seen all of these attributes in him.
Amid her fantasy, the skies began to rumble and when she looked up, she saw the face of her father watching her from the heavens and she felt choked up and could not control herself. She began to sob then, uncontrollably broke into tears and calling out to her father like a child. She awoke from her place of rest and started chasing shadows into the bush. King Byfer was awoken by her cry and when he stood up, he saw her running into the bush so, ran after her, and when he got hold of her, she was almost a kilometer away from where they were both sleeping. When he grabbed her hand in an attempt to revive her consciousness she was still pressing to the unknown. She kept struggling unconsciously with him until, when her veil fell off her face then, she became still. The world halted for him. He had recognized her very well. He quickly had a sober reflection of those moments in the woods he never let go of. He was speechless and gawking at her. She was indeed fair and beautiful, blemish and angelic, magnificent and charming. He was lost in her beauty and excellence. He became frightened that he fell to his knees and asked for her forgiveness contrary to the tone he spoke to her earlier. He was stuttering and could not even speak clearly. She understood that he was scared and already trembling because he had seen her in her angelic form before and quite recognized her. “Have I sin against the father? Have you come to punish me? Or have you come to rebound our love?” He asked stuttering. She was quiet and said nothing to him. She bypassed him and returned to their resting point in the woods temporarily, unveiled. The glory of lord Zamanni was indeed dispensed in her beauty. She was the fairest of all beings. Her face was lavishly glowing with imminent beauty and elegance. Her skin was sparkling smooth and spotless, without laser or contours. Her eyes were more of the seductress but writhe in holiness and virtue, such that anyone that looks into her eyes falls in love with her. She was the typical and express image of the queen of the coast, her mother whom she had never met before, and the excellence of her father.
King Byfer followed her behind gently and cautiously, he was lost in thoughts and engrossed with fear to even go closer to her. That was the primary reasons she was surreptitious about her identity. Because she knew no man would be able to handle her appearance despite, she was mortal. The incandescence of her beauty wired from the love of her father and the beauty of her mother made her incomparable to any factor in heaven or beneath. His little giggling seized and he went to his laying point and lay shoved to sleep. She had already lain on her bed, covered her blanket with her eyes shut and on veiled again. King Byfer was more than restless; he could barely breathe well and even close his eyes. He was sweating profusely while his eyes were rolling back and forth at her with the imagination of what she possibly wanted with him or on earth. Why she had a human form, why she didn’t disallow him from touching her, why she didn’t strike the creatures that were after her life with her powers or even felt cold or crying like a child. Seen these things were anti angelic. These were the questions that flipped his mind all through the night and he wished the night had ended its reign immediately, when it was only midnight. As a king sometimes, what you see is beyond temporary explanation, it only requires time, patience, and revered understanding to find the answers you need. Been the wise king that he was, he chose to keep calm and find sleep, as what will be will always be. He was still trying to console himself when he finally fell asleep and soon it was dawn.
The dawn came and he was not still awake from sleep. He had slept very late the previous night so he had forgotten to rise early. She had already woken up very early and got some fishes from the nearby river and was preparing it, the aroma from the fish and smoke was what awoke him. He coughed and when he woke up, he was surprised to find her busy preparing five nice catfish with some of his provisions, which he had brought from home. It smelt nice but that was not able to erase the memories of her appearance he witnessed the previous day. He was busy starring at her, lost and frail while she was stylishly taking note of his attitude. She did not say or do anything regarding her identity just yet. ‘It's ready now come let’s eat together,’ she called out to him politely. “What! Hmm! Em em em! Am not hungry, am fine," he replied stutteringly and with his face on the ground. “You can’t ride on an empty stomach, besides, we might encounter wild animals, how will you save me if you don’t have the strength to fight,” she spoke lovingly. That gave him some courage to draw closer to her at least to a degree of arm's length. He wondered why she was this kind and submissive to a mortal like him. Someone he could easily command or destroy if she wanted within the snap of her finger. Yet she was cooking for him and even depending on him. Love indeed can be mysterious, he thought. He mustered all the courage he had to take a few bites of the fish even though it did not digest properly and his eyes could not stop running through her in amazement. She had prepared the fish like the best fish seller will yet she is a goddess of beauty contrary to his view of beautiful women devoid of culinary skills. She refused to eat the fish to avoid lifting her veil again. So, packed hers into some leaves, and slotted it into his bag. King Byfer watched her silently and wondered why she was packing hers into his bag. Whether she intended on following him home, he wondered. “Come on, it's time to go, time is up," she spoke a differential manner to him. King Byfer was terribly confused and pacing around and had to come out of his fear and confront her. "Listen, miss, I know you are not human, I have encountered you before in the woods and I remember that blissful night we shared. Although, I was not completely conscious but i was sensitive to every part of that intimacy. I saw how your face was glowing with happiness. Like you were yearning for it like you were desperate for more, like you loved it and wished it never ended. I wanted more and wished the night with you never ended but all of a sudden you disappeared and I have been searching for you since then. Anytime I feel that I miss you, I come to these woods, and here I am with you today and I cannot even breathe in peace. I do not know why you have come back to me, whether you want to snap out of the little life that you gave to me or want to take revenge on my family. Listen, my queen if in any way I have transgressed against the lord, please punish me here. If you want to kill me fine, no problem but I cannot go with you to Penilot my country. My families, the people I have sworn to protect all live there and I cannot jeopardize their lives please,” he spoke at length solemnly and with his knees and head on the ground. he was a great man, known for his integrity and prudence. His love for his people and family was his greatest priority and he preferred to put his life at risk than to allow danger to come to his people. He feared no man, beast, or demon except lord Zamanni and the hosts of heaven; he worshipped the heavens with his faith and love, abiding by the fellowship of the spirits and men. She watched him lamenting his misfortune to her. To make things easier for him she asked him a question. ‘Do you love me? “She asked him boldly. King Byfer was astonished because, that was the last thing he thought she would ask of him contrary to what she expected of her, which was to either skin him alive or rebuke him. He answered ‘yes’ with all temerity. ‘If you love me then, you will trust me and take me home, and no harm will come to your people there and when we get home, I will explain things to you in a way you will understand me. Now let us go we are running late.” She spoke convincingly. Without dithering from a merry heart, he hopped onto his horse and assisted her onto the back seat and off the road. Their journey was a three day journey including the river crossing and the rocky path to the north. They finally arrived at Gonefar city, which was the imperial city of the kingdom of Penilot. They arrived at night and so she did not get to behold the entire city but with the landscapes she had seen, the city was big and beautiful talk less of the kingdom. She quickly instructed king Byfer to keep her away from the eyes of the public and he did as she requested of him. He ordered the guards to restrict the movement of anyone within her quarters and most especially her room. She was given a room next to the king’s chambers. She was smuggled in such a way that none other than the guards knew he came home with a stranger. That night she took off her veil again before king Byfers and she looked into his eyes and drew nearer to him, felt his heartbeat and he stood there literally lifeless, completely eroded by her extraordinary beauty and touch. She once again asked him if he loved and wanted her? and he replied repeatedly that he did and wants to marry her. She did not argue with him, rather she accepted his proposal but before then she narrated her life story to him and further told him how vulnerable she was now that she is devoid of her powers and how he was the reason, she was banished from home. He felt bad for her and vowed to protect her with all of his life, strength, and capacity and love her unconditionally as a husband, friend, and father. She was very delighted to hear those words and on the other side, he was very happy too, that the Lord had answered his prayer and finally will get married to the woman of her dreams. But how to convince his family was another hurdle he needed to solve and how to keep the country from the impending threat of Vaigus and his fallen angels from invading the earth, to take revenge on his potential bride and his country. He had to let go of those thoughts for a while and gyrate his spirit with the words of her confession of love and willingness to submit to him as a wife. He kept pondering and meditating on these words until he fell asleep in his bed
